Treasure Hunting: My latest thrifting finds
As I've said here before, I'm an avid thrifter. I love flea markets, charity shops, second hand stores and antiques. I love it all. I love to dig and I love getting lucky. Whenever I go hunting I tend to look for the same types of things. One of those things is ceramics and pottery. I have a real soft spot for hand thrown pieces especially. But I also love unique pieces that you don't see everyday. I'm not talking about mugs that say "World's Best Boss" on them. I'm talking about one of a kind hand thrown pieces like vases and pots. I've had a couple of really good scores lately and I wanted to share them with you.
You can see I have a real preference when it comes to colours. I tend to pick up white, grey (is it gray or grey? I never know) and blue things. I snagged a hand thrown white vase with adorable circles cut out in a ring around the top at a flea market. Bud vases are so cute. They right size for small surfaces like book shelves and bed side tables. I'm also really happy with the speckled piece with the tall lid. It's hard to find dishes with a lid that don't look like gawdy candy bowl in a grandma's house. I picked it up at a second hand store. But the real find is a big grey flower pot. I love the grooves on it, I love the colour and I love the size. It's got real weight to it which is so nice in a plant pot. It makes it hard to disturb. Especially if you have cats or little hands wandering around your house. Does anyone else love thrifting as much as I do? I'm always looking for suggestions of new places to look for some choice pieces. Tell me your secrets!
